I'm Bouncing Ball » Devlog
Hello everyone, and welcome to this week's devlog for our project "I'm Bouncing Ball." Just two weeks ago, we presented some minor changes to the ball movement and the character's animations. The following are the changes added since the last devlog:
- Tutorial level (Level 0): The level presented in the game's demo has been changed to the tutorial level since the player faces no dangers and can freely experiment with hitting the ball.
- Added a new HUD element to the game: Now there's a visible indicator to show the character's health while playing. We've chosen to assign a total health value of 100 for the character, rather than a simpler "3 lives" design. This decision allows us to adjust damage numbers more freely for the enemies and provides the possibility of scaling the damage dealt by projectiles to the character based on speed.
- New first level: We've introduced a brand new first level with its own flying enemy. While the layout and aesthetics of the level may change, we aim to keep the flying enemy concept intact.
- Main menu enhancement: We've implemented the option to change levels directly from the main menu.
- Level progression: Now, there is a way to advance to the next level once the current level has been completed.
With these new additions to our game, we hope to work on the following changes during the next weeks:
- New levels: Our plan is to introduce new levels to the game, each with its own enemy and unique gimmicks regarding how the ball interacts with the environment.
- Tweaks to the ball's movement: As in previous weeks, we aim to make controlling the ball's movements and its interactions with the levels smoother.
